Study Plan

Siena Jazz’s two-year study plan is pre-established and cannot be modified. It must be accepted as is, reflecting the guidelines developed by Siena Jazz over the course of more than forty years of its courses.

The Siena Jazz curriculum for two-year students aims to train well-rounded artists, capable of stimulating their creativity and developing their own stylistic approaches.

A musician seeking a personal and, above all, original aesthetic choice, in an attempt to respond to those individual needs that may arise, mature, and develop during the evolution of one’s artistic training.

Students will be asked to work towards developing advanced artistic and professional growth, a thorough instrumental technique in line with the interpretative and compositional needs of their music, and mature, fluent improvisation, free from conventions and stylistic rigidities.

The role of the teacher in this context is seen as a stimulator of the young musician’s personal potential, a true catalyst for the student’s expressive sensibilities and personal development, a prompter rather than a teacher. Students are also given the option of adding two elective subjects to their study plan, selected from a selection of subjects specifically offered by Siena Jazz for the academic year. These subjects serve to further expand an artist’s skills and cultural curiosity.
