J-Ab: JazzAble

Hub for the Promotion, Diffusion and Internationalization of Jazz Music funded by the MUR using European Union NextGenerationEU Funds

J-Ab is a project aimed at fostering internationalization and promoting Italian musical culture within the AFAM system.
Through training, research, and international cooperation, it creates new opportunities for students and young artists, supports mobility and inclusion, strengthens the link between education, research, and artistic production, and promotes contemporary Italian musical heritage worldwide.

Design, adaptation, and construction of a training and performance space for promoting the heritage of the A. Polillo Study Center.
Creation of a permanent space for reflection and an observatory on the internationalization of the AFAM music sector.

Developing a training program for AFAM alumni and young people under 40, focusing on the internationalization and management of cultural and artistic productions.
Establishing a spin-off to promote young talent in the European and international markets, managed by students or alumni.

Focus groups and working groups for the development of artistic research projects and the analysis of the state of the art regarding PhD programs in applied music in the European Education Area.
Exchange of good practices and development of guidelines for the implementation of experimental PhD programs in jazz improvisation in Italy.

Design and promotion of interdisciplinary events and productions
Interdisciplinarity and attraction of new audiences.
Launch of a contemporary art exhibition dedicated to the reworking of the photographic heritage of the A. Polillo Study Center.

Support and promotion of women’s artistic production.
Improving women’s access to the AFAM sector through scholarships.
Conference on the topic.

Bridging research and production with non-European partners: International mobility, participation in European and non-European trade fairs and events.
