The international summer workshop is one of the most important opportunity for musicians to deepen their own musical and artistic education since almost 50 years.
Focused on performative educational arts, the workshop represents an opportunity of cultural and musical exchange for students from all over the world that share passion and love for this musical language.

COURSES

2 daily lessons of Instrumental Improvisation techniques (with 4 different teachers)
2 daily lessons of Combo classes (with 4 different teachers)
4 final concerts for each student
14 students max. for trumpet and sax
12 students max. for voice, guitar, piano, double bass and drums
2 listeners students max for instrument classes
56 combo classes
10 teachers live performances

Note: alternative instruments such as trombone, vibraphone, accordion, violins, flutes, harps are also accepted. In the case of the presence of these instruments, students will be placed in trumpet, piano, drums and string instruments classes.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Enrollments are open from 23 March to 1st July 2024 and applications will be accepted until all available places are filled.

To submit your candidacy, please visit THIS LINK to connect to NettunoPA system and follow this procedure:

Choose “SEMINARI E LABORATORI” from the box “Ordinamento”
Select your instrument in the box “Selezionare il corso”
Select “1” in the box “Anno di corso” (even if is not your first year you attend the International Workshop)
In the box “Tipo studente” please select one of the following choices:

- candidato esterno: if you apply as an independent musician
- candidato esterno proveniente da conservatorio convenzionato: if you apply as a student from an university or conservatory affiliated with Siena Jazz
- candidato esterno solo uditore: if you apply as a listener

IMPORTANT: during the application phase it will be necessary for students to provide audio material proving their instrumental skills. To this end, candidates can insert the links relating to the registrations in the section called “STUDENT DECLARATIONS”.

It is suggested to provide links to videos in Youtube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, Wetransfer or similar format, remembering that there must be 3 songs, possibly chosen from the following structures: Blues, Rhythm Changes, Standards, Modal Composition or other (it is possible to also include an original piece by the candidate).

Other attachments: please upload an identification document, scans of any qualifications and posters and flyers of the concerts performed.
The procedure will end with the candidate receiving a receipt of registration.

IMPORTANT: Only applications received via the NettunoPa portal will be accepted.

OPTIONAL SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTATION

Candidates with diplomas in classical music and/or jazz can submit:

a copy of the diploma or equivalent certificate;
certification of documented concert activity (concert posters, newspaper articles or, in their absence, a self-certification of the musical activity carried out).

Candidates without diplomas can submit:

certification of documented musical studies;
documented concert activity certification (concert posters, newspaper articles or, in their absence, a self-certification of the musical activity carried out).

COSTS AND PAYMENT METHODS

standard student fee € 880,00;
affiliated conservatory student fee € 650
listener fee € 300.

Payment can be made via Pago PA Portal inside Nettuno PA which will generates automatically, at the end of the application, the payment document and a QR code for the payment.

NOTE: Siena Jazz will evaluate the applications and will inform the candidates of the outcome of their request. Applications complete with documentation and payment will be given priority consideration. However, it is important to emphasize that the positive outcome of admission and the confirmation of payment do not automatically imply participation in the seminar; it is only guaranteed upon receipt of a second email containing the relevant final acceptance. Considering the limited numbers of available places, the fee payment is required in order to reserve the spot at the instrument classes while the evaluation of the single candidacy. In case the student won’t be accepted, Siena Jazz will provide a entirely refund of the fee.

Our Housing office will help you with information and contacts for two types of accommodation solutions:

Guest houses: a contact list for lodgings and rooms for rent;
Student dormitory: limited number of rooms available
