For over 40 years, the Siena Jazz International Workshop has been one of the most important events for in-depth study and training on jazz music and beyond. Specifically focused on performative educational activities, the Workshop has always been an opportunity for exchange and discussion for students from all over the world who share the passion and love for this musical language.

Registrations are open from 3 April to 20 July 2023. Applications will be accepted until all available places are filled (limited to a maximum of 98 students)

  • 2 daily lessons of Instrumental Improvisation techniques

  • 4 final concerts for each enrolled student
  • each trumpet and saxophone course has a maximum capacity of 14 students

Enrollment are open from the 3rd of April until the 20th of July. We will accept candidacies until slots run out (max number of students 98)

Only applications received through the NettunoPa portal will be accepted.

To register, you need to connect to the NettunoPa portal and follow the following procedure:

  1. From the “Sort by” drop-down menu, select “Master’s courses”.
  2. From “Select course” choose the instrument course.
  3. On Course year specify “1” even if it is not the first time you attend the Siena Jazz Summer Workshops.
  4. On “Student type” select one of the following options:
    • external candidate: registration for students/musicians;
    • external candidate from selected conservatories: enrolment for students from all Italian conservatories;
    • external candidate listener only: registration as a listener.

We recommend that you have the bank transfer receipt to hand. Please state “Registration for International Seminars 2023” in the payment reference field.

At the end of the process, you will receive a confirmation of registration.

In the “STUDENT DECLARATIONS” section, you can enter the links to your recordings in the space labelled: “Please provide the links (YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, etc.) to the tracks for the selection process”. The links must lead to 3 tracks performed by the candidate (YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, WeTransfer, etc.). The following are the styles of music from which to choose: Blues, Rhythm Changes, Standards, Modal Composition or other.

As for the other sections, it might be useful to mention your educational background, but this information is not mandatory.

In the following sections, please upload the payment receipt for the registration fee, a form of identification, scans of any academic qualifications, and posters and flyers for concerts you have performed.

Anyone who holds a diploma in jazz music may submit:

  • a copy of the diploma or equivalent certificate;
  • documented proof of concert activity (concert posters, newspaper articles; in the absence of these, a self-declaration of the musical activity undertaken).

Anyone holding a diploma in classical music may submit:

  • a copy of the diploma or equivalent certificate;
  • proof of concert activity (concert posters, newspaper articles; if these are not available, a self-declaration of the musical activity undertaken);

Those who do not have recognized academic qualifications can submit:

  • certification of documented musical studies;
  • documented proof of concert activity (concert posters, newspaper articles; in the absence of these, a self-declaration of the musical activity undertaken).

  • standard course fee: €880;
  • affiliated conservatory student fee € 650;
  • listener fee € 300.

Payment can be made via the NettunoPA portal or via PayPal from the relevant section of the website (please note that there will be an additional charge to cover online transaction fees).

Siena Jazz offers comprehensive logistical support to help enrolled students find suitable accommodation. Our Housing Office will provide useful information and contact details for:

  • Guesthouses / a list of accommodation and available beds at partner establishments located in the historic centre and the immediate outskirts of the city;
  • Student Accommodation (Limited number of places available).

Course made by an ensemble of max 5 elements with the following instruments:
