Admission to Bachelor’s Degree courses is subject to passing a specific entrance exam.
Students who are not enrolled in other courses of the same academic level may apply for admission. Candidates eligible to take the entrance exam must have:
- A high school diploma, or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad, recognized as suitable;
- The theoretical and practical knowledge and skills described in the entrance exam.
To take the entrance exam, candidates must complete the online procedure through the NettunoPA portal available at THIS LINK
Any shortfalls identified during the entrance exam must be solved during the first year of study.
It is not permitted to attend another Bachelor’s Degree course simultaneously within AFAM institutions.
Students wishing to attend both a university course and an academic course at accredited or authorized AFAM institutions must follow the procedures established by Ministerial Decree dated September 28, 2011.
Procedure da seguire per gli studenti europei ed extra comunitari
EU Foreign Students (regardless of residence)
EU students can apply for admission under the same conditions as Italian students, providing, where possible, a “Diploma Supplement” or appropriate documentation certifying prior studies, translated into Italian by the relevant diplomatic authorities.
Non-EU Students Legally Residing in Italy
EU students can apply for admission under the same conditions as Italian students, providing, where possible, a “Diploma Supplement” or appropriate documentation certifying prior studies, translated into Italian by the relevant diplomatic authorities.
This category includes four types of students:
1) Non-EU students with a residence permit, enrolled in other schools
May submit an admission application through the online system provided that:
- They can prove they are enrolled and up to date with tuition payments at a peer institution (AFAM or university; the conservatory will assess the coherence with the previous course of study).
- They are compliant with their residence permit status.
2) Non-EU students with an Italian high school diploma
are considered equivalent to EU students.
3) Non-EU students in Italy holding a residence permit for work (employed or self-employed), family reasons, political or humanitarian asylum, or religious reasons
May apply directly via the online system, provided that:
a. Their academic qualifications have been validated by the competent Italian Diplomatic Authorities abroad,
b. And they have received a “Dichiarazione di Valore” (Statement of Value) issued by the Italian Diplomatic Authority for the region where the qualification was obtained.
These students are subject to admission quotas and must pass an Italian language test before taking the music exams.
4) Non-EU students residing in an EU country with a university qualification from a European institution
May apply directly by submitting either a Diploma Supplement or a Statement of Value issued by the relevant Italian Diplomatic Authority. These students are also subject to quotas and must pass the Italian language test before taking the music exams.
Non-EU Students Residing Abroad
These students must follow these procedures:
1) Contact the nearest Italian Diplomatic Authority. Non-EU students MUST NOT register online. Instead, they must go to the local Italian Diplomatic Authority to begin the pre-enrolment process. (It is recommended to complete all procedures in due time in order to ensure eligibility for the entrance exams.) The designated offices will translate and legalize the academic documents and issue the required “Statement of Value” from the Italian Diplomatic Authority.
2) Wait for confirmation email from Siena Jazz: After receiving notification from the Diplomatic Authorities, the Siena Jazz Academic Office will send all candidates a confirmation email by July 1, with further instructions (exam dates, exam fee payment, etc.).
3) Wait for visa issuance and collect documents: The Diplomatic Authority will electronically transmit the student’s information to Siena Jazz (June/July), issue the visa by the end of August, and return all documents to the student before departure to Italy
4) Before arriving in Italy, and only after receiving all necessary documentation from the Italian Diplomatic Authority, the student must:
