Phil Markowitz (pianist) and Maurizio Giammarco (saxophonist) are two jazz musicians who share very similar artistic influences and aims. Having received their musical training in the 1960s and 1970s – a unique period of great creative ferment – both Markowitz and Giammarco have in fact followed a similar path: their first steps in crossover groups, experiences with legendary jazz masters, forays into radical forms of improvisation, jazz-rock fusions, and finally arriving at their own identity – including in terms of composition – capable of interpreting tradition and their own musical past in the light of the latest stylistic developments in jazz.
