40th edition International Higher Masterclasses
july 24th - august 7th, 2010
Students who whish to apply to the Summer Workshop must send the following:
A duly completed application form;
A live recording on Compact Disc of: (a) two pieces chosen by the student from the list below and (b) another piece freely chosen, or an original composition must enclose the score;
A letter stating the student's knowledge and level of English;
Two passport-size photos (digital pictures are accepted via e-mail);
Receipt of paid fees;
Furthermore, students with a formal jazz degree must also send:
(a) copy of the diploma or equivalent certificate;
(b) proof of at least three years of activity in jazz (concerts programs or posters, flyers, newspapers articles, etc.) or in lieu of the above item a detailed music curriculum of the past three years).
Students with a degree in Classical Music must send:
(a) copy of the diploma or equivalent certificate;
(b) proof of at least three years of activity in jazz (concerts programs or posters, flyers, newspapers articles, etc.) or in lieu of the above item a detailed music curriculum of the past three years).
Students not having official degrees or diplomas must send:
Certificate of at least four years of musical studies;
(a) proof of at least three years of activity in jazz (concerts programs or posters, flyers, newspapers articles, etc.) or in lieu of the above item a detailed music curriculum of the past three years).
Listener students must send the following:
A duly completed application form;
Two passport-size photos (digital pictures are accepted via e-mail);
Receipt of paid fees
AUDIO CD Requirements:
The Audio CD must have the indication of: Student First and Last name, instrument played, list of the pieces performed;
If an original composition is presented, the score must be attached;
Live recordings are accepted only if NOT edited or elaborated with effects;
Audio recordings must be of sufficient quality;
All admission material sent will not be returned.

(for the CD recordings and the following live audition)
BLUES: C-Jam Blues, Sandu, Au Privave, Mr. PC., Footprints;
BOP: Anthropology, Airegin, Epistrophy, Scrapple from the Apple, Isotope;
STANDARDS: Body and Soul, Stella By Starlight, In a Mellow tone, Stompin at the Savoy;
SIMPLE MODALITY: Maiden Voyage, So What, Recorda-me, El Gaucho;
COMPLEX MODALITY: Virgo, Dolphin Dance, Speak No Evil, Moment Notice;
OTHER: An original composition or free improvisation.
