Permanent Laboratories for Musical Research
High Professional Qualification Course
The program for specialization and musical experimentation is divided into two sections, both under the supervision of Stefano Battaglia:
Admissions
Stefano Battaglia personally coordinates each ensemble music Laboratory, participating in each of the groups formed. Applications are accepted for all instruments, with the exception of the piano Lab , for pianists only. Whomever is not invited by the teacher to attend must apply for an audition with the teacher and send the necessary material to the secretary of the Siena Jazz Foundation: presentation, curriculum vitae and eventual discography , including published cds. The secretary will comunicate the resulting admissions. The same applies to the piano Lab where admissions are limited to a maximum of 8 pianists.
Attendance
For the ensemble music Lab, the frequency varies according to the goals that each group sets and to the availability of its members, with a minimum of nine encounters yearly (academic year 2007/2008). There is no pre-set calender: the dates are set at each encounter, according to the agenda of each member. For the piano Lab, attendance is obligatory of all nine encounters which are set as above.
Duration
Each encounter for both the ensemble music and piano Laboratories lasts six hours and the date as well as time will be set according to the availability of each member and eventual commuting time that each member faces.
Groups
For the ensemble music Lab, from the Trio to the Theatrum orchestra, at the beginning of each season the formation will be established in accordance with the musicians chosen on the basis of artistic, individual, choral and geographical considerations.
Costs
The cost of the Ensemble music labs:
Aside from the normal annual enrollment fee of €60.00 (tax included), each component of the labs must pay a fee for each monthly encounter, according to the formation:
- Euro 70,00(tax included) for each member of a trio
- Euro 63.00 (tax included) for each member of a quartet
- Euro 55.00 (tax included) for each member of a quintet
Piano Laboratory
The cost of the piano Laboratory also includes the annual enrollment fee of €60.00 (tax included).
The cost of all nine encounters is €495.00 (tax included) which must be deposited in two payments.
The first installment which corresponds to 50% of the amount, must be deposited at the time of enrollment and amounts to euro 307.50 (247.50 for the lab and 60.00 for the enrollment), the second installment, of euro 247.50, must be deposited in february.
Any eventual extra encounters for the Theatrum orchestra are free of cost and the participants are chosen by Stefano Battaglia during the season.
