workshop study program

The workshop offers the opportunity to investigate on the potential and possibilities of working with improvisation in a multidisciplinary context which includes dance, theatre and music. The common structural and compositional elements that will be of reference, is that of long-form Improv structures such as The Harold developed by Dal Cloose, and also other improve scores that are found in the post-modern dance tradition as in Action theatre and Contact Improvisation practices.

The exploration path will begin with a quiet warm-up through movement focusing on deepening the awareness of body and mind in the present moment. Boosting the perception of the self in space and with the others , will be the first step to uncover one’s expressional potential in a multidisciplinary Improv context.

The investigation process will easily space from abstract to narrative, from more technical and formal acting exercises to free vocalization and sound explorations, from text to singing, from drama to poetry.

While the basic technical and compositional skills of each discipline are kept in consideration and always referred to, the Improviser will have the opportunity to feed his improvisation with elements spacing from theatre, to singing, to music, to poetry, to dance.

A specific work will be proposed to musicians that will be guided to explore the possibilities of interaction playing with rhythm, speed and quality of sound vs. movement in the ensemble of a instant composition performance context.
